SCO Update: The SCO 21st Century Project Team continues to refine and validate the project plan based on the updated approach of deploying in two major waves (Civil Service and CSU). The team has been actively pursuing information and lessons learned from similar SAP customers, including university processing experience. Efforts continue with SAP to reconcile the gaps between delivered SAP functionality and the SCO processing requirements, primarily related to concurrent employment.
Additional information on the SCO 21st Century Project can be found on the SCO website at: http://www.21st Century.ca.gov/index.shtml. |

- Campus Coordinator Webcast: A webcast for campus coordinators was held on Thursday, October 25, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The webcast covered the expected role of the campus coordinator and gave campus coordinators an opportunity to meet each other and the project team. This was the first of ongoing monthly calls/webcasts for this group.
- Campus Visits: The Change Management and Communication Team will be scheduling visits to all CSU campuses over the next few months. The purpose of these visits is to introduce members of the projects teams, share known information, and address questions that campus constituents may have about the project. These visits will be scheduled through the campus coordinator.
- Data & Reporting/Data Warehouse Team Update: The Data & Reporting/Data Warehouse Team continues to focus on gathering business requirements. Interview schedules have been established for the participating campuses, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Chico, Pomona and Sacramento as well as key users of data at the Chancellor’s Office. Interviews have begun with Pomona and the Chancellor’s Office. The remaining campus interviews are scheduled for completion by the end of October.
- Business Process Team Update: The Business Process Team continues to focus on research and update of Payroll related process documentation to capture issues and potential future processing approaches. The CSU and SCO project teams will continue to review this information in conjunction with the SAP application. The result of this effort will be updated process documentation which will be presented to the appropriate constituent groups for review and discussion. The timeline for this activity is in development and will be communicated as more details are gathered and specific processes are ready for review. Upcoming team activities include documentation of non-payroll related processes impacted by this project. The process list for this activity is scheduled for completion by mid-November.
- Application Integration Team Update: The Application Integration Team began discussions last month with the SCO regarding the technical integration approach and tools. The team is focused on development of general requirements (including all categories of data to be shared with the SCO) and will be reviewing this with the SCO team as well as various CSU constituent groups.
